I've been spending lots of time in Chicago's western suburbs. I'm trying to figure out these places that fall on the borders of urbania and suburbia. I have found some pretty interesting places and met some equal interesting people so far. If anybody lives or has friends or family that live in the near western suburbs, please, let me know, I'd like to talk to them _b

tokYo !!

WOW !! I just got home from Tokyo, Japan, were I had the opportunity to spend a week exploring this amazing place. I'm sending out lots of film to be processed and plan to create a small book about my experiences with this super-future city. Check back often, as there will be plenty of Tokyo posts. _b

So, this past Friday I had the opportunity to lend a hand to an international superstar! No, it wasn't Austin Powers, although, i'm sure this guy has one helleva mojo!! The man in the photograph is Kevin Mooney and behind him is one of his THREE refrigerators FULL of EXPOSED film. That's right EXPOSED!!! So next time, you're thinking of kicking back and getting into an episode of Desperate Housewives, think again and go burn some film! _b

wicker Park aliEns !

i always thought if aliens came to earth they would first inhabit and take over a place like wicker park. On saturday my theory proved true! Here is proof of a rare two-headed species about to try its first taste of an ice cold $2 PABST... i don't think the aliens will have any problem making the transition to interstellar hipster. _b

I was at an outdoor art show about two weeks ago in grand rapids and had along with me the sx-70. These kids approached me and asked what I was doing I told them I was just taking a few pictures. Being as young as they were, all they knew were digital cameras. I don't believe they knew what a 35mm film camera was, let alone a polaroid sx-70. I asked if I could take their picture, they excitedly said yes. As soon as I made the exposure the polaroid shot out the front of the camera, in pure amazement, the little girl said, "cool! it even has a built in printer!!!" _b

i really like the obscurity of this image. it looks so playful but menacing at the same time. that whole thing about kids being cute, but scary; like they are always planning something... anyway that's it from chinatown for a bit. _b

portfolio site

I recently uploaded a new version of my portfolio site at briansorgfoto. If you have a minute or two take a look around and let me know what you think. I still have many things I want to do to it, but my deadline to have something up was the end of May and I did. I'm going to continue to learn Flash to make the site more interactive. I also need to get more content uploaded. For the time being I think the site looks fairly nice.
