turtle.

I flew over the pacific ocean with this guy. He took the window seat on the plane and didn't let me look out even once, but that's ok I made him say "FUCK YOU!" during rush hour on the subway. (Very embarassing! If you've ever been to Tokyo you know what I mean... silent as all hell on those things! Sayonara _b

I'm currently editing through some images for a new book I am "self-publishing" about life in the suburbs of a major American city. I should have it completed in about a week. _b

I like how even on your days off, when I drag you to the suburbs, you still have a smile on your face.... Thanks for being such a good (and hott) photo assistant! _b

DAVEY, this one's for you.

What's up dude? I hope you like the pic. I have a couple prints for you and Tony. I'll call you about coming out on Friday. peace _b

briansorgfoto... updates

I've made a couple changes to my "professional" photography site: briansorgfoto. The majority of them being small updates to the interface; to hopefully make things easier for the viewer. When the semester is finished here at Columbia College, I'll throw up lots of new work from the photographs I have been shooting in Chicago's western suburbs. Check back. _b

constructing nature ...

I recently used Apple's service of publishing photo books through iPhoto. I got the book in the mail exactly one week after I uploaded the files to them. They offer a couple different options as far as hard / soft covers, sizes, and such. I chose the soft cover 6x8 version. The quality of the book is fair. The images could be a little sharper and the paper stock they use is a semigloss, which I am not a big fan of. But for the price and ease of the service and not to mention having a published (kinda) book with your name on it is kinda cool. I think if you have a small project your working on, some party photos, or for the purpose of a leave behind, the iPhoto books are worth the money. Mine was based on the fabrication of Chicago's Millennium Park. _b

words

I threw some new images up from the shooting I've been doing in the western suburbs. I met a really interesting group of guys (eighth grader skaters) this past week. I spent some time skating and shooting with them last Friday. It was like going back in time. I had a blast. Hopefully I'll get the chance to spend some more time with them and make some new pictures. _b

I've been shooting in the western suburbs every week for the past month now. There is so much there to shoot. I really enjoy it. These places feel so removed from the "Chicago" I know. I'm starting to remember things about my experiences growing up in the suburbs of Grand Rapids. It's funny how things that where once so familiar can now seem so akward. more soon. _b

scanning tokyo

I've spent this cold-ass rainy day locked on the 11th floor of Columbia College in the digital lab. I just finished scanning the remaining film from Tokyo. I ended up with about 136 photos that I dig; out of way too many. I'm going to design and layout a small book to display them in. There are a few cheap self-publishing sites on the net that offer printing services. I'm thinking about using LULU. They seem to have some nice options. Anyway, now it's editing time and tying to figure out a theme for the book. As of right now it looks like it's going to be pretty broad... _b
